It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden and unexpected passing of our beloved son and Justin’s big brother, Thomas M. Levitt III, known affectionately as “Tommy” to his family and friends. He left us too soon on June 17, 2026, at the age of 37. He was born on September 27, 1988 in Killeen, Texas to his loving parents, Tom and Kelli Levitt.
Tommy was a military brat who spent his school years growing up in Woodbridge, Virginia where he graduated from Gar-Field High School in 2006. He went on to attend Virginia Commonwealth University where he spent just over two years before leaving to pursue his passion for cooking. He was widely known in the Richmond restaurant community working at several different establishments during his cooking career where he became a respected Chef, colleague, and friend to many in the industry. Most recently, he was a Chef at Lillian’s Oyster Hall where he closed that chapter of his work life moving on to a new vocation as an apprentice electrician. Tommy was a member of the IBEW Local 666 in Richmond. He found a new passion in this hands-on work that he always seemed to excel at, and again became a respected colleague and friend to many through his dedication and work ethic. He enjoyed music and attending live concerts with his brother Justin and many friends. He was always first into the mosh pit or onto the dance floor. He enjoyed visiting historic places and the museums of Richmond. He delighted in relaxing along the James River on warm days and hanging out with friends in downtown Richmond.
Tommy was preceded in death by his maternal Grandparents, Larry J. Thompson and Rosemary Aborizk Guthrie and his paternal Grandfather, Thomas M. Levitt. Tommy is survived by his parents, Tom and Kelli Levitt, his brother Justin Levitt, and his Grandmother Diane Levitt. He is also survived by his Aunts and Uncles; Annemarie and Don Corbett; Patty and Jeff Swain and his cousins Robbie, Corey, and Ethan along with many extended family members and lifelong friends who will deeply miss his goofy personality and sense of humor, his fierce loyalty, and his generous loving nature. He has touched so many lives of both family and friends and will leave a void and aching in our hearts that will never go away.
